OUTLINE ITINERARY
Day 1
Arrival: 15 -20 Minute drive. AIT representative will greet you at Tribhuvan International Airport and transport you to your Kathmandu hotel. After having formal introduction, you are being served with welcome drink at the hotel. They will give you helpful tips for your time in Kathmandu. O/N Hotel
Day 2
Kathmandu Sight-seeing: 3-4 hours. After breakfast, you are being prepared for joining a guided tour of the amazing sightseeing of the Kathmandu Valley. You can visit Durbar Square, Swayambhunath ‘Monkey’ Temple, the famous Hindu temple – Pashupatinath and the largest Stupa in Nepal – Boudhanath onwards at afternoon we gather for a pre trek briefing and introduction to your trek leader & make arrangements for your ‘trek pack’. In the Evening AIT organizes welcome dinner at a local restaurant
Day 3
Early morning flight to Lukla (2800m) Start first days walk through forests and small villages. You will descend slightly, following the Duhd Kosi River, passing scatted houses. The final leg climbs a staircase up to Phakding. A village set at 2800m. (Approx. 4 hrs walk)
Day 4
Follow the Bhote Koshi through forest and pasture land, along a valley dotted with small Sherpa settlements. Cross the Bhote Koshi and climb steeply along switch-backing trail to large Sherpa village, views of Everest (8848m) and Lhoste (8511m) come into sight. This prosperous town is the largest Khumbu. A traditional trading center, the Bazaar is held every Saturday. The goods on display are available. Thamserku (21886'/ 6648m) and Kwangde RI (6224m) become visible to the east and west, and the sacred mountain Khumbila (5707m) dominates the skyline to the north behind the village. Six hours. Night stay at Namche Bazzar (3440 m)
Day 5
Rest and acclimatization at Namche Bazaar. A pleasant day can be spent exploring the village, talking to the Sherpas and marveling at the incredible scenery. A hike to the Everest view hotel in Syangboche or Thame will be a good option. The rest day is intended for acclimatization purpose. HIKE HIGH, SLEEP LOW
Day 6
Namche Bazzar-Tengboche: 4-5 hours. Start decending from here the trail will slightly to Dudhkoshi at 3250m. Then a steep ascend will bring you to the famous Tengboche Gompa via many rhododendron forest and watching many Wild Goats (THARS)will be scrolled the hills in the background of Ama Dablam, Mt. Everest and other peaks.
Day 7
Tengboche-Pheriche: 5-6 hours Today your journey is a slightly descent through lush forest, before the gradual climb up to the valleys highest year round settlement of Pangboche (3,860m). Continue ascending around afternoon through alpine meadows and yak herds, eventually reaching Pheriche
Day 8
Pheriche - Lubuche: 4-5 hours The trail goes via passing a smalll tea huts at Duglha & directly up to the Khumbu Glacier for an hour, then left into the memorial area before reaching the village of Lubuche (4,930m). By this stage the effects of the altitude will be kicking in and you can expect colder nights.
Day 9
Lubuche-Gorak Shep: 2-4 hours The trail continues climb to Gorak Shep. It takes a couple of hours to walk up to the famous viewing point of Kala Pattar (Black Rock) at 5,545m this small peak offers the best views of Mt. Everest, Pumori and Ama Dablam you can get without climbing. Overnight in Gorak Shep (5,160m).
Day 10
Gorak Shep-Everest Base Camp- Lubuche: 6-7 hours This day leads you finally to the Everest Base Camp (5,357m) walking through rocky and glacial trails where climbers gather for summiting Everest. Continuing the trek we'll return to Lobuje (4930m/12894ft) for overnight.
Day 11
Lobuche to Chhukung (5-6 hours)-4,730m/15,518ft After breakfast trekking continues decending to Dingboche and a slightly ascending to Chhukung a small summer settlement. Overnight in Chhukung (4,730m) where you make final preparation for climbing. Over night at lodge.
Day 12
Chhukung to Island Peak Base Camp (3 -4 hours)-5,280m. The path from Chhukung leads fairly steep way climbing south then turning east to the main line of the valley. It then winds along or below the southern flank of the moraine from the Lhotse Glacier. Continue short pleasant walking along a streamside leads to rock. Over night camp in Island Peak Base Camp (5,280m).
Day 13
You will have move to Island Peak high camp, from where you will climb the Mt. Island peak. The path leads up beyond base camp for several hundred meters before striking off left up the steep hillside. Initially sandy, the path soon turns to grass before becoming boulder strewn. As you climb the hill, you will see that the slope narrows and the path enter a steep rock channel. Overnight in Island Peak High Camp (5,710m)
Day 14
High Camp to Summit Island Peak & back to Chhukung. Island Peak Ascent (6,189m/20,305ft), from early in the morning will have to climb the rock gully. This is not difficult but there are several short rock steps to climb before you emerge on the right side of the gully. The route then follows a ridgeline, which leads to an exhilarating and exposed tranverse onto the snout of the summit glacier.After enjoying the summit views you will descend to Chukung.
Day 15
Trek to Tengboche ( 6-7 hours)-3,910m. The trek start down from chukkung following towards panboche. After this, we take a same trails back which is used to trek up. walk up through the forest to reach Tengboche. And over night at lodge.
Day 16
Tengboche- Namche Bazaar: 5-6 hours Now the trail retraces the same way back, stopping at Tengboche. Overnight in Namche Bazaar (3,400m).
Day 17
Namche Bazaar- Phakding: 4-5 hours Today the trail steeply descends to the Hillary Suspension Bridge and then continues on an easy natural trail. Overnight in Phakding (2,652m).
Day 18
Phakding-Lukla: 3-4 hours And finally today the trail will lead you back to Lukla (2,800m). On arrival in Lukla you will have a time to relax.
Day 19
Lukla- Kathmandu: 35 minutes. After an early morning flight to Kathmandu, you'll transfer to your hotel. Finally there'll be an evening celebration dinner together.
Day 20
Departure: You could catch up on some last minute shopping, Internate to your friends and family before departure to Airport or onwards to your next destination.
